Mullingar Scratch Trophy

The Mullingar Scratch Trophy was first played for in 1963 when it was won by the legendary JB Carr, and the following year by Tom Craddock.

It attracted all the top players of that era and was the number one scratch trophy in that era.

It has featured in the lives of most of the current crop of Irish Tour players who have all competed here over the years.

Darren Clarke won here in 1989, Paul McGinley in 1991, and Padhraic Harrington in 1994.

Presidents Cup Ireland team member Athlone's Colm Moriarty won in 2001 thus continuing Mullingar's association with Irish golf at its highest level.

In the last number of years the cup has been won by current Irish Tour Player Rory McIiroy and Shane Lowry and last year by Colin Doran of Banbridge GC.

The 2010 competition will be played on Sat and Sun 28th and 29th Aug.
